John Brodie

I was born in England a long time ago, and grew up in London. Shortly after graduating from Oxford University I decided to visit Japan.
It turned out to be a long visit – more than 30 years! During this time I learned Japanese, quit smoking, studied Chiropractic and Harmonics, got married and had two sons, learned pottery and enjoyed such activities as skiing, scuba diving, photography, Aikido and more. To keep things going I worked as an advertising copywriter, translator and interpreter. And I became a professor at Kyoritsu Women’s Junior College. In between times I managed to travel quite extensively and meet lots of very interesting people.

Eureka

I set up Eureka Inc. in 1986 to serve as a base for a number of activities. Chiropractic and Harmonics healing are the hub, and we have seen and helped several thousand people – from every continent except Antarctica –over the past 20 years. We also offer sessions of Rebirthing, Rolfing, Coaching and Counseling.
While most people who visit us come with specific physical problems, they tend to go away feeling much better psychologically as well as physically.
Eureka also makes available crystals and other minerals that can be used for physical and energy balancing, various energy devices including Spiral Harmonizers, supplements we have found effective, books, etc.
In addition to the healing field Eureka has been engaged in translation and interpretation services, research in healing, water and other areas, promotion, etc.
With the establishment of a new base (Awapiko: http://www.awapiko.net/) in the New Zealand countryside, Eureka will also serve as a liaison, and encourage people to visit and otherwise take part in Awapiko activities.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic was founded in 1895 by D D Palmer, a Canadian therapist living in Iowa, U.S.A. Its basic tenet is that the body is fully capable of healing itself, so long as the nerve function is intact. D D Palmer’s experience was that nerve function is often impaired by a ‘subluxation’, a misalignment of the spine in which nerves are squeezed and can no longer function properly. The solution was an ‘adjustment’ to restore the spine to its proper alignment and restore full nerve function.
Nowadays Chiropractic is known throughout the world. In many countries, including America, it ranks with Western medicine as a primary health modality. There are Chiropractic colleges in many countries, and many different types of Chiropractic treatment have evolved.

Chiropractic 2

I first discovered Chiropractic as a result of a car crash. I had concussion and whiplash, but the nearby hospital sent me home saying ‘You’re fine. That was a lucky escape!’
I went to a number of ‘alternative’ healers: massage, seitai, acupuncture, electric acupuncture… but Chiropractic was the one that worked for me. And that’s how I ended up studying Chiropractic and doing it myself.
I have found that a lot of people have the same kind of experience. They come to Chiropractic after conventional treatment failed to fix the problem.
The basic idea of Chiropractic is to restore full nervous function by putting the bones back in line. Within this broad framework there are many different philosophies and types of treatment. At Eureka we mostly use S.O.T., a “soft” (non-traumatic) way of balancing and realigning bones, muscles and body organs. Sometimes we work directly to restore the micro-movement and circulation of the skull (Craniopathy). Often we use ‘Harmonics’, a technique that works directly with energy to achieve still more remarkable results.

S.O.T.

This is a very special kind of Chiropractic treatment and philosophy. It was developed by Dr. Major Bertrand deJarnette.
When I first met the Major, he was one of about ten top American Chiropractors who came to Tokyo to give a seminar.
I had the job of interpreting their teaching into Japanese. That was good for me, because I was able to see exactly what they were doing, and ask questions when I did not understand. It was not so good for the audience because at that time I didn’t know much about Chiropractic. But I did notice something very interesting. The other Chiropractors all thought Major deJarnette was a bit weird. But when they got the chance, they all asked him to give them a treatment!
After that I got to meet and study with the Major many times, in Japan and the U.S., and we became good friends.
I like S.O.T. above all because it is gentle, but very effective. In addition it is backed by a very full explanation of precisely why it works. There are several very talented Chiropractors who continue to research and refine S.O.T. and Craniopathy (adjustment of the skull), which is really all part of the same thing.

Harmonics

Every year, there is a big S.O.T. seminar attended by chiropractors from all over the world. It lasts between a week and ten days, and many leading S.O.T. practitioners give lectures and workshops on their research. As far as I know it has always been held in Omaha, Nebraska, because the Major lived in Nebraska, and that’s where he wanted to hold it. I first went there in 1979, and then for five years in a row.
One of the doctors teaching at Omaha attracted a lot of attention because he was doing the most remarkable things. Although he barely seemed to touch the patients, they showed amazing changes. His name was Dr. M. L. Rees, and he lived in a small town in Kansas, the next state down from Nebraska.
I was fascinated by his work. I asked if I could visit his office.
When I arrived he explained that he used ‘conceptual concentration’ to treat the patient’s energy as well as the physical body. And I noticed that he also used flowers, crystals, etc. to influence the energy field. Most interesting for me, because I had been fascinated by stones since my youth, he also used varieties of stones set in plastic discs, which he called ‘Harmonics’ to treat people.
I decided I had to learn more about Harmonics, and as soon as I could I took Dr. Rees’ course. Subsequently I met him and other members of his group often, for seminars in America and Japan, and traveling around the world to discover power spots and harmonize the planetary energy.
At Eureka Harmonics is the main treatment modality.

Crystals

One of the Harmonics seminars was in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is a beautiful place, and is surrounded by crystal mines. In fact it is the biggest crystal producing area in America. I’ve heard it is also the one place in America where you are safe from crime, because many different Mafia families have vacation homes there, and they have declared Hot Springs neutral territory!
Dr. Rees (we called him Doc) was using crystals way before the ‘crystal consciousness’ boom. We learned from him that crystals can be programmed by thought to carry certain energies, and these energies can be sealed into them. We used crystals for cleaning people’s energy body, and for repairing and rebalancing their physical body.
In fact crystals are a universal energy medium. They can absorb, store, transmit, modulate and convert just about any frequency of energy. The thing that’s most similar to crystals is water, which also picks up, stores and transmits energy from the environment it is found in.
Doc developed a set of four ‘Positive Life Crystals’ to help people control pain, balance themselves and meditate. These crystals are painted on the base in blue, pink, orange and green. They are energized by ultra violet (black) light, which makes them glow very beautifully, or by the sun.
At Eureka we have sets of ‘Positive Life Crystals’, as well as many crystals and other rocks in their natural state.

Rebirthing

Rebirthing is a very special breathing technique that works wonders in alleviating chronic tension and restoring overall body awareness. It is called ‘Rebirthing’ because many people get to recall the feelings they had when they were being born – and to finally release tension patterns they had been holding ever since!
In the early 1980s I took an extensive course of Rebirthing sessions and studied how to help others achieve the same experience.
In fact, I taught a number of Rebirthing seminars and workshops too.

At Eureka we hold group rebirthing sessions, usually twice a month. If you are taking part please wear loose clothing, and don’t eat much for two or three hours before. You will lie down on a thin mattress and breathe through the mouth, rather like a baby. As and when appropriate you will get personal guidance on how to breathe.
You might well experience some amazing reactions, but be assured, Rebirthing at Eureka is perfectly safe!
We can arrange special Rebirthing sessions for your group. Please ask for details.

Rolfing

Rolfing is the benchmark for bodywork. Developed by Ida Rolf in the 1960s, it is officially known as ‘Structural Integration’. Over a course of ten sessions the body is gradually re-educated to make a better relationship with gravity, and this frees the mind to create better, richer relationships with family, friends, colleagues… and the world at large.
Koh Brodie is a Certified Rolfer and Certified Rolfing Movement Practitioner. He has studied extensively in the U.S,, Brazil and Japan. At present he is mostly in New Zealand. You can contact him through this site.

Water

We usually take water for granted, but what an amazing substance it really is! First of all, without water there would not be any life. That is because water is needed for just about all the complex biochemical reactions that keep us alive. And of course we use it for cooking, washing, cleaning and generating electricity.
Until recently people thought water was unlimited. And they thought all water was the same. Unfortunately neither of these ideas is true.
Nowadays the world is running out of water. But before that happens, we will surely run out of good, clean water. In fact a lot of the allergies and other health problems we are experiencing today come from using and drinking water that is impure, either chemically, energetically or both.
We all know how water gets chemically polluted. And people are recently finding out just how sensitive water is to energy too. Even the way we think changes the energy patterns stored in water. And when we drink the water, those patterns go on to affect our health!
We have started a project to take microscope photos of water, showing dramatically how its properties change. When we get to video it, the results will be even more sensational!
At Eureka we also handle the Spiral Harmonizer and Vortex Energizer products of the U.K. based Centre for Implosion Research, which are very effective in improving the taste and quality of water (and other products that contain water, including wine).

Balanced Buildings

To stay healthy our body energy needs to be in balance. It’s exactly the same for buildings and outdoors too. That’s why we feel really good in some places; nervous, listless or even quite sick in others.
One of the services we provide at Eureka is blocking negative energies and balancing positive energies in offices, private homes, etc. We use crystals, other minerals and energy devices to help with this.
If you have somewhere that needs energy cleaning or balancing, feel free to discuss it with us.

New Zealand Portal – Awapiko

In 2003 we purchased a forest and farm property in the Gisborne district, one of the most beautiful locations in New Zealand, and the world. Known as Awapiko, ‘Winding River’ in the Maori language , the property borders the Hangaroa River at the Awapiko Falls.
We have ambitious plans for developing Awapiko as a resort, seminar and research facility. We hope to see you there!
